Nutrition Counseling

For a long, healthy life, cats and dogs require a nutritious, balanced diet. Learn more below.

Nutrition Counseling

Nutrition plays a critical role in the overall health and well-being of your pet. Your pet’s nutritional needs change with age and activity level. Specially formulated diets can assist in managing various medical conditions like kidney disease, diabetes, and heart disease. Work closely with your veterinarian to find the right food and the right intake amount for your pet. Our hospital is stocked with a variety of foods that fit the needs of all pets.

Our team will start by conducting a comprehensive nutritional analysis of your pet. We’ll examine them, evaluate their lifestyle, and take into consideration such important factors as breed, age, weight, and the existence of any medical conditions. This will help us to identify precisely what your pet’s nutritional needs are so we can make a professional recommendation on what food would be the best fit. We will also advise you on how much and how often you should feed your pet.

Next, we’ll evaluate your pet’s weight to determine if he or she is carrying too many or too few extra pounds. This is particularly important since overweight animals have a higher risk of developing chronic disease, while pets that don’t weigh enough may be more prone to injury or illness. We’ll use our nutritional analysis to determine what weight range would be the healthiest for your pet and then develop a plan for achieving and maintaining that target weight.

Lastly, we will revisit your pet’s diet and exercise plan from time to time to make sure it’s still as effective as it was initially designed to be. As companion animals age, their health care needs change, including those associated with nutrition and weight control. We will re-assess our approach at certain intervals during your pet’s life and make any necessary adjustments so that we continue to achieve the desired results.

What you feed your pet and how much he or she weighs can mean the difference between a long, happy, and healthy life and merely existing. Doesn’t that little critter deserve the very best? Let our nutritional experts design the perfect plan to help your pet achieve optimum health for life!
